About Me
An engineer’s mind fueled by the passion for fitness.
Who I am
Engineer, soccer superstar wannabe & husband
Coach – I’m a fitness and wellness enthusiast on a mission: spreading my passion for taking people to the best shape of their life!
Engineer – I still carry my scientific mindset. My background in engineering makes me want to take a structured approach to everything I do in life. Coaching and growing as an individual are no exception.
Cook – As an Italian, cooking is in my DNA; I love making pizza almost every Friday night and discovering new places where my wife and I can delight our taste buds. But 95% of the time I’m preparing healthy, nutritious meals.
Husband – I’m married to the most lovely human being on hearth, the perfect life companion that makes me laugh every day.
How it all started
I’ve not always been a coach, but I found my way to become one.
Early life
I was born and raised in the hearth of Tuscany. Right after graduating in Engineering at University of Pisa, curiosity led me to explore new adventures. New job opportunities offered me the chance to live in Milano, Shenyang, Montevideo, Glasgow, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles and finally Seattle. A place I now call home. I've always been driven by physical activity, playing sports (soccer above all) since the early stages of my childhood.
Family
I got married in Italy in 2010 with the love of my life, the person I've laughed the most with. True love is mostly about that: finding a person that makes you laugh every day. We moved to Uruguay in late 2012 and then to the US in 2015. We both have shared and personal projects, where helping people get in their optimal shape is the one I carry on most actively. Together we are also planning unite our passions and knowledge to expand our horizon.
My journey
I still remember that morning very vividly; as soon as I woke up I felt my right leg numb and almost paralyzed. The pain was so hard I could barely turn myself in the bed. Luckily I was able to get some injections of pain killers and the pain faded. Not for long though. Almost two months later I had a second episode, same stuff, same leg. This time I decided to get an MRI done on my back and the response was a full palm slap: herniated disc on L5-S1, bulging and pinching my sciatic nerve; hence the excruciating pain.
I quickly realized that my wrong training workouts, maybe overloading weights on a poor form, literally cracked my back. Pain went on for a few years, on and off, until after a lot of physical therapy, medications, strengthening and suffering it went away. Once I felt better, I immediately felt the impulse to go back to workouts, but I knew I had to be more intentional and respectful about my body. That’s when I discovered Functional Training.
As I explain in this article, Functional Training is a completely different game: you are training your body in full respect of human’s biomechanics, blending together mobility, strengthening and skill development in a risk free environment. You first focus on the form, then you progress increasing weight if needed.
I pretty much always neglected mobility, mostly because of my lack of knowledge; today I consider mobility a pillar of every workout program I design, along with strength. That’s why a healthy posture is so important, because if you don’t learn how to stand up right your entire body’s biomechanics will go completely off, bringing your body into dysfunctional patterns.
I’ve been doing Funtional Training for years now and I can walk, run, workout and live stronger and most importantly, pain free.
My Mission
We are not born with bad habits, we learn them. Modern sedentary, fast paced and repetitive lifestyle takes a toll on our joints and muscle. But any kind of bad habit can be reprogrammed. Wether you are looking to correct your posture, feel stronger, move better or lose weight, it all start from the same principle: be more human.
As a busy professional and life-long athlete, I understand the struggle trying to balance an optimal lifestyle with optimal performances. It was not until I started an introspective analysis that I understood the importance of mental aspect over physical performances; you need to be mentally strong to perform at your best.
For this very reason I decided to start helping motivated individuals experience the same transformation; by unlocking your mind you will find out how empowering it feels to achieve your goals, experiencing the motivational effect of crushing them one by one.
I focus on elevating my clients’ lives by coaching them into reconnecting their mind with their body, rediscovering the true nature and power of our human body.
It is important to understand that it all starts in our mind; addressing the physical aspect of training and well-being is only a part of my approach, whereas developing a goal oriented mindset is the real key. Teaching mental skills techniques that enhance overall self-confidence, enjoyment, well-ness and favor the natural development of healthy habits and lifestyle. This method is what really sets me apart from the rest and gives my clients the results they aspire and deserve.
